TOBACCO FREE JAPAN

The Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), which comes into effective on February 27, 2005, will shift the current Japanese economics-based tobacco policy toward one of public health orientation, leading to all-out measures against tobacco to achieve a gpost-tobacco societyh. gTobacco Free*Japan: Recommendations for Tobacco Control Policyh is a unique project whereby experts from Japan and USA and opinion leaders from healthcare fields rally together to develop scientific evidence-based tobacco policy to be developed and implemented after FCTC is in effect.

Committee Members
This project was carried out by the Japan-US Joint Committee, which comprises nine advisors , eighteen contributing authors, and three co-editors among the authors who compiled the report. The Committee was responsible for producing the Executive Summary , the Full Report, and the Instruction Book , which have all been widely distributed within Japan and abroad. Also, the concerned parties have provided their support for this project.
